Principal's Message

Welcome to EMP

Reading with dogs
Reading and dogs...two of my favourite things!

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to our school website.  Eileen Madson Primary School is a place where children and adults learn and grow together.

I am amazed by the enthusiasm and resiliency I see in the students here, and as one little friend told me, “We are learning to do hard things!” Learning is something we are programmed to do, and yet it can take a lot of energy to follow through and persevere with new and challenging tasks. I would like to express my gratitude for all the families who work so hard to provide their children with love and support, and my gratitude to the school staff who do the same. This is a wonderful place to be and it is such a privilege to be able to witness the growth in students of this age, in this place, which is the traditional unceded, and shared territory of the Ktunaxa and Secwépemc people, and home to many Metis families.

I look forward to working collaboratively with staff, students, families, rightsholders, and other community partners as we work on our strategic priorities:

  • Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • Success for Each Learner in Numeracy and Literacy
  • Growing the Capacity of Self and Others
  • Stewardship for the Future

In partnership,

Rebecka Riddell-McKay
